We caught up with our MD, James Markey, on what a year it's been, as well as what's in store over the coming months...
"Over the past year or so, Nutrition X has started to transform the way it supports athletes and their performance whilst looking after them in a measured and safe way.
Our mission has always been to deliver this through a scientifically designed and Informed-Sport tested product range. As the brand has continued to gain experience, our passion has grown tremendously to help athletes in the most effective ways possible and this does not have to be solely through a product lead approach.
In April 2018
We launched the Nutrition X Consultancy as we recognised we had a network of strong relationships with SENr (Sports and Exercise Nutrition register) accredited nutritionists and wanted to ensure they were given the opportunities to work with clubs and athletes. This in return helps safeguard the clubs and athletes to receive expert advice from educated and accredited nutritionists.
In October 2018
We launched the Repair Shot, which is a collagen-based 60ml liquid shot designed around some of the latest research in the area of joint injuries to support athletes through important surgery / injury during their physically demanding careers.
In March 2019
We ran our first conference at the University of Central Lancaster, which provided the opportunity for key researchers in the industry to share their ideas and studies to other highly regarded researchers. This would allow for a fantastic networking platform to enable cross-sport discussions on supporting athletes performance and well-being.
Now in June 2019
We have spoken with many key researchers on the topic of hydration and are now offering a hands-on sweat testing service to sports clubs. As a result of this testing, we can provide individual hydration strategies based on data collected during exercise. It is understood that as little as 2% in dehydration can have a detrimental effect on performance and therefore we want athletes to understand how they can prevent this.
We believe in a ‘food first approach’, providing expert advice and Informed-Sport tested products. Our mission is to support athletes as best we can and we will continue to develop and tweak products based on research, extend our nutrition services and host events to ensure we are continuing to improve as a brand for the benefit of athletes and nutritionists.
We love working with athletes and helping them take decisions around nutrition into their own hands to enable them to look after themselves, even past their sporting careers!"
