As part of our innovative sports nutrition consultancy services under The Nutrition X Consultancy, we’ve launched a brand-new Sweat Testing service, giving athletes an insight into their own unique hydration needs like never before.
Run by our dedicated team of expert performance nutritionists, our new Sweat Testing service gives us the chance to visit clubs and individual athletes to improve understanding when it comes to hydration strategy; vital for boosting performance, no matter what the sport.
How it works is simple. Using sweat-collecting patches, we’ll place these in different areas of the body prior to training to measure sweat sodium levels collected during training, which give detailed readings of sweat sodium concentrations for each individual athlete. We'll also take measurements of athlete weight pre and post-training, as well as the amount of fluid each player drinks during the session, to give an accurate reading of sweat rate for each individual.
Using this data, we’re then able to give unique recommendations when it comes to hydration strategy per athlete. No two people are the same when it comes to hydration needs, so we can then work with each athlete to put together specific hydration advice when it comes to training and game-day, making sure hydration doesn’t have a negative impact on performance.
